Instructions
Add grated turmeric, ginger and fresh cracked pepper to 3 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
Simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Remove from heat and strain the liquid.
Add lemon juice. Stir in the sweetener as required. Mix well.
Serve hot or cold.
Notes
If fresh turmeric root is unavailable, ground turmeric can be used.
For more flavor, add lemon zest after removing from heat. Let it sit for 5 minutes before straining.
Turmeric orange juice:
As a variation, squeeze 3 tablespoons of fresh orange juice along with lemon.
