Have you been thinking of making paneer tikka, restaurant-style? But no oven/skewers?
YOU CAN still do it! This recipe shows you how to make delicious paneer tikka simply on a tawa (pan) in 15 minutes. It requires only a few basic spices you might already have in your pantry.
Take chili powder in a bowl. Heat mustard oil and drizzle over the chili powder. Mix immediately and let it cool.
Step 1: Make paneer tikka marinade
Once the mustard oil-chili powder mixture cools down, add coriander, cumin, garam masala, chaat masala, salt, yogurt and lemon juice.
Mix well until the spices and salt dissolve and you get a uniform consistency. Your tandoori marinade for tawa paneer recipe is ready!
Slice the block of paneer into ½-inch thick slabs as shown. If using store-bought fresh paneer, soak the slabs in hot water for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Marinate paneer
Blot the paneer to remove extra moisture, if any. Place the paneer slabs in a large bowl and add the tandoori marinade.
Coat the paneer slabs with the marinade on all sides. Do it gently without breaking the paneer. Let them marinate for 5 to 10 minutes.
Brush a tawa, grill pan, or a regular pan with olive oil. Heat the pan and place the marinated paneer slabs without overcrowding the pan.
Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for 3-4 minutes. Remove paneer tikka from the tawa. Sprinkle chaat masala and lemon juice and serve.
