This healthy strawberry banana milkshake recipe without ice cream is a delicious post-workout drink that will give you a quick energy boost. An easy 5-ingredient banana strawberry shake with no added sugar that also makes a quick breakfast or after-school snack for kids.
Place all the ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. If your blender is not so powerful, blend the almonds with the ice and a little milk first, then add the rest of the ingredients.
If you're using frozen strawberries and bananas, reduce the quantity of ice or you can totally skip it.
Optionally garnish with slivered almonds and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Chill before serving.
Ensure that you use well ripened bananas for the milkshake to turn out sweet.
Though fresh fruits can be blended and chilled for this recipe, I would recommend frozen ones. Using frozen strawberries and bananas will make the milkshake creamier.
The milkshake tastes great as is, but if you want it perfectly smooth and creamy, soak the almonds in hot water for 10 minutes, peel off the skin and then add to the blender. You can also soak them overnight in room temperature water.
