Marinate the fish with chilli powder, turmeric, salt and lemon juice. Keep it aside.

How To Make  Mangalore Fish Curry

Step 1: Marinate

Puree 2 tomatoes. Add a pinch of salt, sugar and oil. Place the puree in a bowl and microwave for 10 to 12 minutes.

Step 2: Make Tomato Paste

Blend together onions, ginger garlic paste, whole spices and ground spices into a smooth paste.

Step 3: Blend Fish Masala

Blend grated coconut with water into a coarse paste. Extract the milk using a fine mesh strainer.

Step 4: Extract coconut milk

Heat coconut oil in a deep pot. Saute the blended fish masala paste until you get a nice aroma of Mangalorean spices!

Step 5: Make Curry

Add the microwave-cooked tomato paste and saute for a couple of minutes.

Soak a lime-sized ball of tamarind in hot water. Extract the juice and add to the pot. Add water and bring it to a boil.

Add the marinated fish pieces to the curry. Bring it to a boil. Simmer until the fish gets cooked.

Add coconuit milk to the curry. Simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes. Garnish with curry leaves.
