Prawn masala is an easy recipe you can make in less than 30 minutes with basic ingredients.
This recipe teaches you how to cook prawns the right way. Learn the tips to avoid overcooking prawn so they don't turn out tough and rubbery.
Seasoning mix: Mix together chili powder, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, salt and pepper in a bowl.
Peel and devein prawns. Add the seasoning mix to the prawns. Drizzle lemon juice. Let the prawns marinatefor at least 10 minutes.
Marinate prawns
Heat olive oil in a pan. Finely chop one or two onions and add to the pan. Saute until they turn translucent. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears.
Make Prawns Masala
Finely dice one or two tomatoes and add to the saute pan. Saute for 3 to 5 minutes until the tomatoes are cooked and mashed.
Once the tomatoes are cooked, add marinated prawns. Stir intermittently on medium heat for a couple of minutes. Stir until the prawns start to turn white.
Cook the prawns covered for 2 to 3 minutes. Open the lid and check if they've turned opaque throughout. If not, cook for 1 or 2 minutes more.
Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves. Turn off the flame and transfer to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with rice or roti.
