It’s everything you want in a sauce—creamy, zesty, just a little spicy, and packed with fresh flavor. This avocado lime crema is real food at its best—wholesome, nourishing, and full of flavor that makes you actually look forward to eating healthy. Ingredients and why they matter

Labelled ingredients for jalapeno avocado sauce.
  • Avocado: The star of the recipe, it creates a naturally creamy texture while adding healthy fats and a mild, buttery flavor.
  • Greek Yogurt: (as in the garlic yogurt sauce recipe) it brings a light tang and extra creaminess while boosting protein, making the sauce rich yet balanced.
  • Jalapeño: Adds a gentle kick of heat and depth, giving the sauce its signature spicy edge.
  • Garlic: Infuses bold, savory flavor that enhances every other ingredient.
  • Lime Juice: Brightens the sauce with fresh acidity and helps keep the avocado vibrant and green.
  • Cilantro: Adds a fresh brightness that lifts the entire sauce and balances the creaminess.
  • Salt and pepper: Bring all the flavors together and enhances the overall taste of the sauce.

Drizzle it over chicken taco bowls.

Spoon it over roasted vegetables like balsamic roasted Brussels sprouts and carrots or honey roasted sweet potatoes and carrots.

This sauce also pairs well with smoked paprika salmon, balancing the spiciness with its tangy flavor.

Shredded tofu wraps taste equally delicious with this avocado lime crema instead of guacamole.

Thin it slightly with water and use it as dressing for salads.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados: They should be slightly soft to the touch for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
  • Adjust consistency: Add a splash of water or more lime juice to thin the sauce to your liking.
  • Taste and adjust: When you blend, pulse a few times first and then taste. Add more salt, lime juice, or jalapeño to suit your taste. Also remember to adjust seasoning when you thin down the sauce.
  • Control the heat: Remove jalapeño seeds for mild heat, or keep them in if you like it spicy.
  • Blend until silky smooth: A high-speed blender or small food processor gives the best creamy result.
  • Serve fresh for best taste and color: Avocado tastes best when freshly made, with its vibrant green color intact.
